Creating a Successful Online Marketing Strategy - Seminar Series

This seminar is open to all business owners, non profits and organizations who want to better understand how their business can benefit from an effective online marketing strategy. While the topics to be covered are: search engine marketing, online media, email marketing campaigns, and customer retention; the overall purpose of THIS seminar will be to present and discuss effective way to make them all work together as a whole.

The Caplan Group's Roger Caplan will be moderating and hosting the seminar, and presenting will be David Kelley, President of Digital Autonomy, LLC and Chris Myers, President of SuperBookDeals.com, one of the region's foremost Internet entrepreneurs.


Roger Caplan owns The Caplan Group, located in Howard County, and is recognized as a leading advertising firm in the Baltimore / Washington Corridor, with vast market knowledge, experience, and a diverse portfolio of clients such as General Growth Properties, East Baltimore Development, Inc., Howard County Economic Development and Apple Ford to name a few

Roger is past Chairman of the Howard Community College's Board of Trustees and served on the Board as a Trustee from 1995 to 2007. Caplan was instrumental in the college building a new Instructional Building, Performing Arts Center, Student Services Building and Child Care Center. Currently, he is an adjunct faculty member.

Roger has served with distinction on several non-profit boards including Voices for Children, Howard County Cable Commission, Howard County Tourism and Howard County Arts Council to name a few. For more information on Roger, his bio page can be found here.

David Kelley has more than 20 years of successful experience in marketing, business development, business ownership and management, focusing mostly on the Internet, web development, franchising, commercial printing and graphic design industries. In May of 2008 Dave launched Digital Autonomy, LLC, and Internet Marketing Consultancy located in Howard County and focused on helping businesses and organizations with their Digital Marketing efforts.

Prior to Digital Autonomy, David helped build TruePresence, a national online marketing firm based in Baltimore that specializes in paid search advertising, web development and permission based e-mail marketing.

Before Joining TruePresence, David was an owner and managing partner for several successful businesses including an Alphagraphics franchise location in Columbia and Rand Interactive, a leading web and multimedia development firm in Baltimore. David's tenure included working with regional and national clients such as Head USA, Arthur Andersen, Lockheed Martin and USDA to name a few.

Dave has been a resident of Howard County, Maryland for 16 years; living in Mt. Airy with his wife and three kids.

Chris Myers is CEO of Columbia Maryland based Expert Trading Limited, a global internet book distributor and education business. Since founding the company in 1991, Myers has created a diversified complement of business units.

Traders Library, the company's oldest division is the industry leader in the sale of books and other instructional materials directly to active investors, predominantly through the internet. Myers is also president and founder of Marketplace Books, Inc. one of the largest publishers of financial information in formats ranging from books to newsletters and specializing in digital content in DVD and web delivered media.

In 2002, Myers leveraged the technological infrastructure of the firm to create the company's SuperBookDeals division. Unlike the niche focus of its sister division, SuperBookDeals.com offers over 1.5 million titles on every subject for sale on the internet through its own website but predominantly through major e commerce portals including eBay and Amazon.

Myers lives in Ellicott City with his wife and two children, and is active in a variety of local charities including The Arc of Howard County, the STTAR center, Hospice of Howard County and has been a member of the board of the Ulman Cancer Fund for Young Adults.

In 2007 Myers' companies were named one of the fastest growing companies in the Baltimore area by Smart CEO magazine.
