Roger Caplan, President

Roger CaplanRoger graduated from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County with honors in 1975. He moved to Howard County, Maryland for a teaching position with the Howard County Public School System. He received his masters' degree from Loyola College in 1978. In 1981 he became the Sports Director for a local radio station and did a local cable TV sports show. In 1984 he joined a publishing company in Baltimore, Maryland and quickly became the Vice President for Advertising Sales and minority partner. In December of 1989 a division of the publishing company was sold and Caplan founded The Caplan Group, Inc, a full-service advertising and public relations firm providing cost-effective, quality advertising for a wide range of clients.

Today The Caplan Group, located in Howard County, Maryland, is recognized as a leading advertising firm in the Baltimore / Washington Corridor, with vast market knowledge, experience, and a diverse portfolio of clients. Since founding The Caplan Group, Roger has been active in the community, serving on a number of non-profits boards.

Roger is past Chairman of the Howard County Community College's Board of Trustees and served on the Board as a Trustee from 1995 to 2007. Caplan was instrumental in the college building a new Instructional Building, Performing Arts Center, Student Services Building and Child Care Center. Currently, he is an adjunct faculty member.

Recently Roger successfully directed the communications effort for the Ulman Cancer Fund for Young Adults, 10th Anniversary event that featured Lance Armstrong at a dinner on Friday October 26, 2007 attended by over 1,000 people, and a Bike and Run at Merriweather Post Pavillion on Saturday, October 27, 2007 lead by Lance Armstrong.
